Visual Function after Multifocal Intraocular Lens Insertion in a Heterozygous Granular Corneal Dystrophy Type 2 Patient: Case Report

چکیده
Purpose: A patient with heterozygous granular corneal dystrophy type 2 (GCD2) underwent phacoemulsification multifocal intraocular lens insertion, and complained of visual discomfort. We investigated the cause discomfort function in this case.Case summary: 59-year-old woman opacity had slit lamp photographs taken 5 years earlier. Two later, she (Trifocal AT Lisa tri toric 839MP®, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Inc., Jena, Germany) insertion both eyes at a local clinic. She felt very uncomfortable after surgery, but lattice opacities due to GCD2 her corneas remained stationary for years. Her acuity decreased from preoperatively (preoperative: right 0.5, left 0.6; last visit: 0.3, 0.4). contrast sensitivity was also total higher order aberration increased (right 1.590 μm, 1.194 μm), compared normal range. Conclusions: Multifocal cataract surgery can lead severe declines higher-order patient. It may not be advisable use lenses

متن کاملVisual outcomes following implantation of a multifocal toric intraocular lens in patients with corneal astigmatism
METHODS: In this consecutive case series, patients underwent phacoemulsification and bilateral or unilateral IOL implantation with the M-flex T IOL (Rayner Intraocular Lenses Ltd.). All underwent refractive assessment and corneal topography preoperatively and postoperatively. Outcome measures included uncorrected distance VA, spherical and cylindrical refraction, and spherical equivalent (SE) (...
متن کاملExtremely varied phenotypes in granular corneal dystrophy type 2 heterozygotes
PURPOSE To investigate the phenotypic variability of patients bearing the heterozygous R124H mutation in the TGFBI (transforming growth factor-beta-induced) gene that causes granular corneal dystrophy type 2 (GCD2). METHODS We describe the phenotypic range of GCD2 heterozygotes for the common R124H mutation in TGFBI; seven with an extremely mild phenotype and six with an extremely severe phen...

Purpose. To report visual outcomes and patient satisfaction after unilateral or bilateral refractive lens exchange (RLE) with a single-piece bifocal diffractive multifocal intraocular lens (MIOL). Methods. All patients underwent RLE with the ZMB00 MIOL (Abbott Medical Optics). Patient charts were reviewed to evaluate the distance, intermediate, and near visual acuity (VA), contrast sensitivity,...
متن کاملAcute Epidural Hematoma after Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Insertion: a Case Report
Background & Importance: Acute epidural hematoma is a very rare complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion. The insertion of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt can cause sudden decompression of the brain, subsequent to which epidural hematoma occurs due to CSF drainage. To our knowledge, there are only a few cases of acute epidural hematoma in the literature which required acute e...
